Whew this one was HUGE. Again I did not post about every single detail as it would be so much
1975 BMW 2002 Turbo M42
Wow…what a build this was. And what a friendship it formed. As I have said time and time again the reason we do this is really for the story. Yes we like building fast/fun cars but we really do it for the connection that we make with the owners. We are not replacing the brakes on you 2004 Toyota. We are building a car that you will make memories in. That you will take your kids to get ice cream in. That you will drive cross country and see sights like this in. While doing it we hope that we can make friends along the way. That is exactly what happened with this build.
This car is nothing short of amazing. The owner gave us a lot of control of the direction of the build. All he wanted in the end was a kick ass car that was fun to drive, looked good, and brought a smile to his face.
There are nearly 700 pictures in the gallery for this one. We will explain as much as possible in the posts below but there is no way I can go back and write it all up. If you have any questions what so ever feel free to email us.
This car got a built turbo M42 with a GT28RS turbo controlled by Megasquirt 3 Pro. We pushed the engine back about 3″ from our normal location on the M42 swaps so that there was more room for a puller radiator fan and AC condensor. We built a custom engine harness for the entire car putting a upgraded fuse block under the rear seat. The entire suspension was rebuilt, built small case differential was installed, and a bunch of custom interior bits. Read through the build and check out the pictures in the gallery. This car lives in Southern CA where it makes it way to a lot of Cars and Coffee and vintage shows. If you ever see it be sure to ask the owner (Ken) how Gus is doing.
