We picked this one out of a garage in Detroit where it had sat for almost 30 years. Once we got it back to the shop we were unsure of it's fate. Looking at it from the outside, Tim was sure it was bound for the scrap yard.
But the owner has a real history with this car; he grew up with it. His parents bought it new, and then he inherited it and it took him through college. This car has some real sentimental value, as you might imagine. With that in mind, we were swayed to fight the good fight and thus the decision was made to bring this old girl back from the brink.
Anyone who knows rust, knows it doesn't sleep (Except the second Tuesday of the month from 1-2am, Jake says). Surface rust and icebergs have a lot in common; if you can see it, there's for sure a whole lot more underneath. This shell will have to be stripped blasted down to bare metal if we plan to do this right. And we always plan to do it right.
